Metelkova 2a, 1000
On May 28, the Slovenian Cinematheque will present the selected Chick Strand's opus of the opus and the program of restored independent animations from the Academy Film Archive collection.
In more than a century's history of the film, animation was an area of nlimited expression, used by countless independent artists using the seemingly endless range of techniques and aesthetics. In the United States, the seventies were particularly fertile. The united forces of newly available (and now absent) funding, bold distribution channels, access to equipment, supporting school environments and outstanding new talent have produced a decade of unforgettable, imaginative, transgressive animations that defined this period.
Academy Film Archive has been actively preserving and restoring independent animated films since its inception. This program contains a selection of films from the incredible period of the seventies that have been restored in recent years. All films were restored by the Academy Film Archive. Films are displayed with the permission of the Academy Film Archive and their authors / rights owners.
The program will be presented by filmmaker, curator and restorer Mark Toscano.
